LASER TREATMENT

There are two types of lasers used in dentistry today: hard and soft tissue lasers. We at Miles of Smiles offer both types for our patients.

Soft Tissue Laser – Laser Smile™

The soft tissue laser is used for gingival recontouring or lesion removal. Use of lasers allows the tissue to heal faster and reduces swelling. At Miles of Smiles, we use the LaserSmile™ manufactured by Biolase™, the industry’s leader in laser technology. In addition the LaserSmile™ is an ideal instrument for use in laser whitening. The LaserSmile ™ teeth whitening system uses a hydrogen peroxide based bleaching gel which is photo-activated by the LaserSmile ™.

Hard Tissue Laser – Waterlase

The hard tissue laser is an instrument that may be used to trim and cut bone or teeth. Very fine cutting can be accomplished with this instrument resulting in less time, cleaner operating fields and reduced trauma to the hard tissue structures.

Waterlase® Dentistry uses a patented technology combing YSGG laser energy and a spray of water, a process called HydroPhotonics™, to perform a wide range of dental procedures on teeth, gum and bone more comfortably. Typically, with Waterlase we’ll use fewer shots and less anesthesia reducing patient anxiety and providing a more relaxing dental experience.

Waterlase® is a versatile tool that allows your Miles of Smiles dentist to cut teeth, bone and gum tissue with less trauma and do procedures that can’t be done with traditional tools such as the drill and scalpel. Your Miles of Smiles dentist will determine what type of treatment is appropriate for your needs.
